The hidden wellbeing centre in Dumfries

I teach my yoga classes and occasional workshops at the Wellness Centre Dumfries. It's a centre for wellbeing therapies and treatments offered by different practitioners in the centre of town.

Although it's very central, it's tucked away down a quiet courtyard and you may not know it's there!

Because of its hidden location, when you enter you feel like you're in a secret place, and people's shoulders immediately drop down, and you might even find yourself sighing 'aahhhh'. There's a lovely relaxing atmosphere to the centre.

But if you've not been before, here's how to find it:

Wellness Centre Dumfries, 9 St George's Meuse, George St, Dumfries, DG1 1HH.

There is pedestrian and cycle access, cars should be parked nearby as there's no vehicle access.

To find it, be on George Street, and look for the archway between St George's Church and the Freemason's Hall - there is a street sign which says 'George St Meuse'. Walk through the archway and down the courtyard about 50m until you come to the pale blue door of the Wellness Centre Dumfries.

Technically it's very close to Greyfriar's church and the Robert Burns statute on Church Crescent, but there is no direct access to it from that side.

What else is available at the Wellness Centre Dumfries?

As well as yoga classes by me and several other teachers, Lynda who runs the centre is a qualified acupuncturist and also offers Bowen Therapy and traditional Chinese herbal medicine. There is also a chiropracter, a counsellor/hypnotherapist and a massage therapist.

What's the Wellness Centre Dumfries like inside?

It's a calming haven where you can relax! There's a reception area, waiting room, yoga room, and all the treatment rooms. There's also a toilet and a kitchenette, so when I hold workshops here we can have refreshments.
