Virtual alternate nostril breathing
Nadi sodhana, or alternate nostril breathing (also called anuloma viloma), is where the nostrils are temporarily blocked in an alternating pattern as you breath in and out. This is done with your fingers, pressing and releasing against the side of the nostrils.
This is said to have many benefits including relaxing the nervous system, calming the mind, strengthening the respiratory system, and cleansing the nasal passages.
If you have sinus issues, a blocked nose, or don't want to touch your face, we can practise a virtual version, where we use the power of the mind to imagine the breath going in and out of the nostrils at different times.
This short guided audio track takes you through the virtual alternate nostril breathing without using your fingers. You picture the breathe going up one nostril, and down the other, and then in reverse.
